Riverbend Maximum Security Institution opened in 1989 and replaced its 100 year-old neighbor, the Tennessee State Penitentiary. Today, it's billed as one of the state's most high-tech facilities. It is made up of 20 different buildings with approximately 320,000 square feet of operating space, sits on 132 acres located off Cockrill Bend Boulevard. Riverbend's designated capacity is 714 offenders. Of that number, 480 are classified as high risk.

Tier 3 data center that has Dual 3000 amp services, dual 1560 kilowatt Generators and 750 kilowatt redundant UPS and Battery Plant. Built on a 10 month schedule, in 2 phases. Phase I being the Data Center and offices and Phase II, the additional offices. A 53,000 sq. ft. building with 80 rooms and 321 parking spaces completed on June 24, 2010.
